BREAKOUT EDU in a K-6 library

In this session participants will interact with a mini Breakout EDU challenge. They will then learn what is necessary for a kit and best practices as the Breakout Master of their building. Resources will be shared on how to use already created kits and how to eventually create your own.

Victoria earned her BA in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and Philosophy at Hofstra University, she then attended Syracuse University where she earned her MLIS with a specialization in school media. She is the library media specialist at Owasco Elementary School in Auburn, NY as well as a coach of the varsity cheerleading team for Auburn High. Needless to say, she likes to incorporate that fun high energy atmosphere from the gym into the library. Her library initiatives focus on 21st century skills by utilizing makerspaces, global education and problem solving skills. She is passionate about Breakout EDU because of it’s ease in connecting her initiatives with classroom curriculum.
